Anthony Fauci and Two Scoops of Ice Cream

by Vince Greenwood, Ph.D., founder of DutyToInform.org

The psychopath lives to dominate others. He needs others to submit to his will and higher status. This drive is an ineradicable part of his nature.

Thus, when Trump is hosting a meal, the staff is ordered to provide him with two scoops of ice cream with his chocolate pie, while everyone else at the table receives just one. Who is number one on the totem pole must be asserted.

In their efforts to get out the facts about the pandemic, government scientists and Anthony Fauci in particular, represent a threat to Trump’s (disinformation) narrative. But also to his status. So, of course, Trump characterizes Fauci as a “disaster” and public health experts as “idiots”. Of course, efforts are made to move Fauci offstage. Superior status must be asserted.

The psychopath’s bandwidth of emotions is limited to those associated with his drive to dominate others: anger, contempt, jealousy, feeling thwarted, mistrust, glee. To be king of the hill is what animates the psychopath. He is devoid of the more tender emotions that could engender solidarity or trust. At one of his coronavirus press briefings, the president was asked, “Are you concerned that downplaying the virus maybe got some people sick?”

How did Trump respond to this request for empathy? “And a lot of people love Trump. A lot of people love me. You see them all the time. I guess l am here for a reason, and to the best of my knowledge, l won. And l think we are going to win again. l think we are going to win in a landslide.”

Empathy and collaboration are outside his capacity. He operates exclusively in the frequency of dominating others. One more scoop of ice cream than his guests and put-downs of Anthony Fauci are of the same ilk.
